RAISED BY ROBOTS
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MACHINE

CREATED BY HUMANS.

Three producers who left perfectly good careers to make films about people nobody listened to.

01
LEE
MURPHY
FOUNDER · PRODUCER
"I'll sleep when the cut's locked."

Lee makes films about the things that keep him up at night. He broke through with The Beyond, a hybrid documentary that somehow convinced audiences that real life was stranger than science fiction. Then, in a move that confused absolutely everyone, he left filmmaking to build one of the largest Gen Z video shopping platforms in Europe.

He spent years in the trenches of tech, shipping product, scaling teams, learning exactly how to make something millions of people can't stop watching. Along the way he produced music videos and fashion campaigns for major labels and brands, because apparently one career at a time wasn't enough.

In 2023 he walked away from all of it. Back to the only thing that ever made sense: finding true stories nobody's telling and putting them on screen. He hasn't slept since.

Left tech to make documentaries. His accountant still hasn't recovered.
Has pitched a film in a pub car park. Got the deal.
Believes every great story starts with "you won't believe this but..."

LAURENCE
JONES
CO-FOUNDER · PRODUCER
"It's not a problem. It's a production challenge."

Everyone calls him Loz. He's the one in the room who's already solved the problem before you've finished describing it. As Commercial Director at Endemol Shine UK, he sat across from every major broadcaster in the country and steered one of the biggest production groups in the world — the home of Big Brother, Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror, and a wall of formats sold into 75+ territories.

He worked on The Real Mo Farah, the BAFTA-winning documentary that broke a story Mo had carried in silence for thirty years. He's worked across television, film, social, digital, audio, animation, live — documentary, factual entertainment, reality, music, comedy, kids, scripted, unscripted, and at least three formats that don't have names yet.

The secret? He actually likes the chaos. Where most producers see a logistical nightmare, Loz sees a Tuesday.

Helped run the company that put Big Brother on screen.
Worked on a BAFTA-winning documentary that made a knight cry on national television.
His calm in a crisis is either inspiring or deeply suspicious.

DAVID
BERESFORD
CO-FOUNDER · PRODUCER
"The spreadsheet says no. I say yes."

David spent over a decade in investment banking, which is exactly the kind of career you leave when you realise you'd rather build things people actually enjoy. In 2014, he co-founded That Lot, which became one of the UK's leading social media agencies — with in-house video production, a studio team, and a client list that included Channel 4, Amazon Prime Video, and Spotify.

That Lot won awards, scaled fast, and proved that David's instinct for what works on screen was just as sharp as his instinct for what works on a balance sheet. Turns out, the best producers understand both storytelling and spreadsheets — and David's the rare one who genuinely loves both.

Now he brings that dual brain to Raised by Robots: the creative ambition to chase the wildest stories, and the commercial clarity to make sure they actually get made.

Went from investment banking to entertainment. Lateral move, honestly.
Built an award-winning agency. Got bored. Started making films.
Can read a P&L and a screenplay with equal enthusiasm.
